Homework Should be Banned (In my opinion)

Hi everyone!

I apologize for not posting last week and yesterday. Since school has started, my schedule has been a bit staggered and I have had a lot of homework. So, if you got mad, don’t blame me… blame the homework. Also, I will be posting every two weeks (on Mondays) from now on.

Homework is the evilest (I don’t really think that’s a word) thing a teacher has ever given me. Here is why:

First off, it takes up a lot of your time. I have better things to do, such as:

• My hobbies
• Spend time with my parents
• Write posts (like this one)
• Do chores (not my favourite)

Second of all, homework can be a real pain, and by pain, I mean it gives me terrible headaches. I also mean it can be horrifyingly hard. Whenever I bring homework, I always get confused and then one side of my brain keeps saying STOP, STOP, STOP, NO, NO, NO. While the other side keeps saying, “It’ll help you” or “You should have finished it in class”. I always want to listen to the first side (obviously).

Thirdly, students are already tired after six hours of school and when you have homework after a long tiring day… it adds unnecessary stress and students have enough of that already. Having stress about friends, tests, and family, then giving them homework with a due date is more stress that isn’t needed (again, I repeat, unnecessary stress).

The stress of completing homework affects the sleep cycle. What I mean is students might be staying up very late or might not be sleeping at all because of stress. This affects students’ health, and performance in school.

Also, it is the number one thing that stops me from doing what I want. If I want to, for example, read, go out somewhere, or even just sit in my room and draw…, it takes up that time and ruins my mood, my day, and my parents’ mood! It even makes me cranky, and when I’m cranky, my parents get cra- you get the point.

In my opinion, homework has so many negative effects on students and adds unnecessary stress. Finally, homework is the worst thing that has ever happened to me. Therefore, homework should be banned, no further discussion.
