Creative Careers

Hi everyone!

Most adults ask kids, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most kids fantasize about becoming a princess or superhero. If it was a teen, the answer might have been someone famous. I was asked this question many times, and my answer was different every time. Now, my dream careers are acting and healthcare but it keeps changing as I grow up and expose to different environments. I want to do something which does not feel much like work, but like I am living my dream.

It took me a while to find the difference between a career and a job. I learned that a job is something specific and short term, while a career is a group of connected jobs to choose from and long term. The benefits of choosing a career rather than a specific job are – you have more choices, you may become more successful, you can be a mentor and you will be a person people look up to.

There are different types of careers but the one I will be talking about today are creative careers. A creative career is when your career is your passion or what you love to do. It’s basically something that requires talent and lots of dedication. Examples of a creative career are:

Event Planning

Cake Decorating

Interior Designing

Writing

Costume Designing

These are just a few careers out of many creative careers to choose from! What was your dream career when you were younger?

  1. Good!
I still remember I used to write a lot of poems and some of them were featured in school charts. Now, I am not sure if I still write them well. But I feel all we need is to be happy , whatever we do!!

  2. Nice.

When I was just 5, 6 years old I want to marry a prince to become princess and a future queen to help many poor people, to have a beautiful dress and crown (ha ha :-D) as i listen lots of such stories and fairy tales. When I became teenager, I want to become a medical doctor and again changed my interest to engineering. Later, I continue my career in environmental science. Now, I want to motive people in doing right things to protect environment and many other things. Living a life with self awareness, right action and continuous learning is important in any career path.

  3. Really great post! When I was young I really wanted to be a vet and as a teenager I really wanted to be a musician. Now I’m a history major which you can say is pretty far from both lol!

  4. Great topic and writing!

I remember when I would also change my answer every day of what career I wanted to pursue. It can be a difficult decision sometimes. I only knew what I wanted to do in my last year of high school but I always wanted to work in healthcare too!

  5. Good research.

When I was a kid, I used to say, “I wanted to become a pilot” :).

Now I feel whatever career we choose it’s important that we live satisfied and peaceful life.
